Learn by Doing

There’s no substitute for time on the water with someone who knows the boat and the local conditions. Our on-water training sessions are private, patient, and focused on the fundamentals that help new or less-experienced boaters feel more comfortable.

Whether you’re preparing to boat with friends, considering ownership, or simply want a better understanding of how things work, we tailor the session to your goals and current skill level.

Private Sessions

Your group only. The captain works directly with you and any additional participants (up to the boat’s capacity of 6).

Real Conditions

Training happens on the actual waterways around Charleston — the same environment you’ll encounter when boating here.

Typical Focus Areas

Sessions are customized, but commonly include:

  • Basic boat handling and control at different speeds
  • Docking and close-quarters maneuvers
  • Understanding local rules of the road and right-of-way
  • Awareness of tides, currents, and common Charleston water hazards
  • Safety equipment location and use
  • Communication and situational awareness while underway

Who It’s For

New boaters, people returning to boating after a break, partners or family members who want shared understanding, and anyone who prefers hands-on learning over classroom-only instruction.

This is practical on-water training — not a formal certification course. If you need specific licensing or formal credentials, we’ll be happy to point you toward the appropriate resources.

How to Book Training

Tell us your experience level and what you’d most like to work on. We’ll recommend a session length and schedule a time that works with tides and conditions.
